What you need:
Dr. Pepper
Lemon
A stove and a pan
Mugs
Heat up the Dr. Pepper until just boiling. (It will look like it is before it REALLY is because of the carbonation).
We typically squeeze some lemon juice in it as it’s cooking too.
Slice the lemon and put a slice in each mug. Pour the hot Dr. Pepper over it. Let cool a bit and ENJOY!
I promise, it’s way better than it sounds.
((I also cheated… I had lemon concentrate and made mine in the microwave. Really, it’s not as good that way…That’s why my pic just looks like a cup of drink.))
When Dustin first started hanging around me, I made him try Marshmallows and Cheese* (something I still think is bizarrely good). But, after that, he was weary of the concoctions surrounding my family. However, he manned up and tried this and admits, it’s pretty darn good.
*What you need:
mini marshmallows
a slice of American cheese
Fold the cheese into squares… as small as you can get them.
Then, make a “sandwich” with two cheese squares and a mallow in the middle. Pop in your mouth and enjoy.
I admit, it’s weird. I was about 6 when I invinted it. And, yes, I still OCCASIONALLY have a snack of it :). Dustin said that it tastes exactly like it sounds and the two things just don’t mix well at all. He’s gone for the evening, so I may just have to have some hot Dr. Pepper and lemon with some marshmallows and cheese :).Besides sipping my Hot Dr P and L, today I’m painting a pot, transplanting house plants, cutting off the tip of my finger (yeah, it’s fun to type now!), writing some essays to get ahead in my classes, and grading some essays to get ahead in some of my classes since I’m about to hit TWO WEEKS OF SUPER BUSY with work.
And, I may or may not have all my paint samples here on my desk to look through for bonus room colors…. a girl needs a break from all that work, you know.
Can you tell I’m home alone and hyped up on Dr Pepper?!?! :)
I am very intrigued!!! It does sound sort of odd, but I think I am going to have to try it!!
ReplyDeleteTHanks for linking up to Show and Tell Saturday!!
Mmmm... I'm glad I didn't see this last night or I would have been making a late night Wal-Mart run to get the supplies! I converted several friends over to liking Hot Dr. Pepper in college. The trick was not to tell them what they were drinking until they tried, and liked, it. I found out at a teacher meeting last year that one of the 3rd grade teachers I work with loves HDP also, it was a family thing for her as well. My hot tea isn't going to taste nearly as good now... =)
ReplyDeleteOh My! I remember you making the hot Dr. Pepper! I never knew about the marshmallow and cheese combo though! :)
ReplyDeleteI don't know about the marshmallows and cheese but I wouldn't mind trying the Dr. Pepper drink as weird as it sounds. I too have some weird food mixes like a toasted pb&j dipped into chicken soup or chicken ramen soup with a slice of american cheese mixed in it. You are not alone. :o)
ReplyDeleteThis is so funny. My family has a few concoctions too but I'm not sure I'm courageous enough to share.
